TALKS
From Connecticut to Anywhere
Susan has given over 250 presentations over the last 15 years, to a variety of audiences, from scientists to Fulbright students to community groups. We’re skilled at multi-media presentations, including video segments, engaging graphics, and spontaneous audience interaction. Extemporaneous, Q&A based talks are a specialty. Currently all talks scheduled are virtual. We’re experienced with several different web-conferencing and webinar apps, including Zoom, Skype, GoToMeeting, and others.

We specialize in working with diverse audiences, from community members to professionals to first-generation college students in a variety of fields. We have special expertise in hands-on, experiential learning and in interactive sessions. Workshops are available in a variety of lengths, from two hours to day-long, and as multi-day mini-courses.

Susan has nearly 20 years of teaching experience in university settings, including creation of experiential, discussion, and lecture courses. We specialize in working with diverse audiences, including first-generation and under-represented students. We teach students in a variety of academic disciplines, including design and planning, natural resources, natural sciences, geography, environmental health, and sustainability.

Design by Deficit: Neglect and the Accidental City tackles the array of urgent issues besetting the American city, from crime to infrastructure failure to entrenched inequality, with warmth and wit, taking the new to urban issues by the hand and showing them around the accidental cities crafted by unintended consequences.
